Quite intersting.
The story I have heard for years was around the turn of the century congress was voting on the income tax law.
Near the end BUT NOT AT THE END, the at the time speaker of the house came out to the steps and announced it's going to pass. BUT at the end when the votes were counted it DID NOT PASS. However they kept it hushed up and no one seemed to ask what the final vote was.
Everyone just excepted it.
Basicly your great, and great great, grandparents and other descendants, mine included were all not paying attention. I can say mine weren't cause this story never arose in any family reunions or visits.
Now as I reread the constitution I made the connection that they snuck it in as an amendment.....number 16 to be exact.
So if you want to see how long they have been dirty just start there as a benchmark, and work your way backwards.
(1913) Amendment XVI
The congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
On a side note: every person who has made a big enough stink WITH PROOF, about the illegality of the politicians and the law itself, never actually passing, have all either disappeared or been arrested or jailed.
Any new people in the media light today are newcomers, OR a smokescreen.
