The big green brainwash.
First off let me start off saying I held off a week or two, before I opened my mouth about this latest rant. So rather than just letting off steam over it I just decided to cool off and point out the finer points after I had a little time to form my observations into words.
Discovery channel actually has several channels, and has had several channels for several years, which by now is mostly common knowledge. At one point in time these channels actually taught you science, or taught you about a geographical location, even though alot of it was skewed brainwashing you could at least learn a little something, even if it was only to see what another country looked like.
All of these channels along with others have been pushing the green agenda sporadicly for a couple years, but this year they seem to be hysterical about it. The last good discovery channel left (discovery home) was wiped clean of all it's format about two weeks ago, and replaced by an all green format. Basicly these are all programming centered on what products you should buy to save mother earth yadda yadda. 100% commercial wrapped up to look like an authority science. If you buy into any of it for even a second, as reality, well then you are a tool.
So now there is NO channels on television that actually teaches you anything related to science. One of the channels is running reruns of cosmos but a twenty plus years, outdated show on cosmotology when the field has grown alot more, relly doesn't count as far as I am concerned. Some shows will LOOSELY touch base, on the mechanics of some subjects, but not enough to give you a real understanding.
Point in fact, one of the shows on the old format was a program called "holmes on homes" focused on a general contractor names mike holmes, who would go into people's homes and fix, for free to the homeowners, what dirty cheating contractors would screw up. After they took the people's money, and never finished the job. He would not just fix the problem, most of the time he would rip out everything and redo it correctly....from scratch, and use really good materials.
This was a show the focused on a positive, and very rare as far as TV goes. On top of that he explained why they had to remove the old work and what would get impacted if it was not done. you actually learned a little each time you watched that show. Along with the three or four good cooking shows they had also.
Now you can't learn any of that.
What you can now learn on "planet green" which is the new name of the channel, is what hybrid truck or SUV you should buy for 50,000 dollars, and which one was the "greenest". Oh my god, what an insult to the color green, and human intelligence. Well intelligence for those of us awake enough to see what's happening around them.
If you don't believe this is all hype and a lie let me point out a little bit of history to you.
When I was a kid in th early to mid 1970s they were pushing this same thing. I site as an example.

The scientists all said we are doomed IF we all do not clean up our act tremedously by the late 80s, which they said was the "line of no return". Well the government ignored it all and along with almost all the corporations, said it was all fairy tale. They still put the screws to certain polluters due to public pressure, but not even close enough to even meet anyof the guidelines back then to clean up.
Now fast forward 20 years PAST the "line of no return". 20 years to late. Now all of the sudden there is an urge and a need? Well if we are 20 years past that line then why bother? It is to late.
Unless all that stuff back then was bullshit.
Just like it is bull shit now.
Remember......
If their lips are moving they are lying.
