Accuracy in religious text.
And here is the problem I have with that.
Lets start with how any and all religions claim their sacred texts are accurate and only theirs and no one else's is.
Well my question is "how do you know?" In which the reply is usually because my teacher or pastor or guru said so. Or because the text says so. Well so what? Everyone who spouts this garbage as if they were there. or like their teachers were there. OR that that actual text itself was even there.
In this day and age where we have TONS of devices to accurately record events and still twist it to meet our ideals 90% of the time, totally distorting the truth, that I am to believe no one did it then? This day and age where reports about another religious leader, molested a child or stole money from their church, almost before the last news story about a previous one has had time to go away.
Then you want me to believe no one was lying and distorting things to fit their agenda back then?
Yeah right.
All the texts say how their god says they should love everyone, then it tells story about how their god told them to go kill an entire population. I'm sorry but in the land of logic where I hail from, that is called a contridiction. And the first answer out of everyone who is still blinded by a religion says no it is not a contradiction. Trust me I have heard more than one religion say that exact thing.
Well guess what.
Yes it is a contradiction....go look the meaning up in a dictionary and not a wiki-dictionary.
Simple nutshell answer is this.
You can not have it both ways. You either promote killing or you promote love, but you can't say you are following in the path of love if you are supporting war in any way, shape, or form. THAT IS A CONTRADICTION.
As far as I can tell ALL religions are full of contradictions
From what I have learned so far in this strange journey is simply this, and this is stictly me speaking for me alone.
I do not need religion to tell me to not kill, and to not steal, or to help someone if they look like they need it, or to simply hold a door open for someone if you both reach said door at the same time. I can make that determination for myself.
Now With that being said, there are actually some decent spiritual (not religious) lessons in these same distorted texts. The problem is, that because they have all been distorted you have to really dig through them to find the little bits of truth in them. Which is pretty mind numbing.
Or you can take the ultimate short cut and train yourself to listen to your own heart, with love.
