The death of halloween.

For the second year in a row, hardly anyone came to the door for trick or treating candy, which if one looks at the entire history of this sick and twisted event, will note that it is just one giant extortion racket anyways.

It used to be that, it was a simple little event where children went door to door of their local neighborhoods and got treats, which at the time was homemade.....cookies, rice krispie squares...etc. Then the parents got involved and started taking their kids to the more influencial neighborhoods, outside of THEIR local areas. THEN corporation took notice of this and got into the act....just like with christmas. Ever since then it has gone down hill from there.

As I was discussing this with a family member they put forth the theory that the reason was because of the swine flu propaganda. I reminded them that last year the swine flu was no where in the media or on the minds of people, so that was not the reason.

Last year 20 people total came around, this year 30 people came around....total....for the entire night. This is a heavily populated los angeles county suburb, where in years past, used to see anywhere from 150-300 people on halloween, within the space of 3-4 hours.

Last year people stopped knocking on the door by 7 p.m., this year they stopped knocking by approximately 7:30 p.m., a total of 60-90 minutes after sundown, as opposed to 3-4 hours in past years.

Last year in this blog I wrote about how I hoped this was a trend that would continue and the whole giant scam would die out. The post I origianally wrote has since vanished from my blog, for public viewing though....go figure.

Looks like I am getting my wish.
