Dirty tricks to generate revenue

This is actually not a new thing, and I, myself have been a victim of one form of this type of thing.

Back about 1990 in california they put stop signs at all intersections around all schools in los angeles county, but there was a stipulation in the law that said they had to install a sign ahead of all new stop signs that were installed.

The way they cheated on this is as follows.

I got up early in the morning and went out to do errands and passed the intersection next to an elementary school by my house. I took another route home because my errands took me all over the valley. Then I had to go back out mid-morning, and went back out via the same school and ran a stop sign that was not there earlier that same morning, and was ticketed by a cop waiting at the stop sign.

After receiving the ticket I went back up the way I came to see if a sign had been posted prior to the new stop sign, and there was no such sign. I knew about the stipulation prior to the incident so it then became obvious what was happening.

They were illegally generating revenue.

I went back home and got a BIG piece of cardboard and wrote on it.

WARNING: THERE IS A NEW STOP SIGN WITH A COP IN WAIT DOWN THIS STREET.

Then I attatched it to the entrance of the street that led to the new stop sign.

Then I smiled and waved to the cop who ticketed me earlier as passed by, also making sure to stop for longer than normal and look all directions before driving on.

Late that afternoon they finally got around to putting up the sign that let people know there was a new stop sign there.
